Do you like animal beads? Do you like to wear animal beads? Obviously, I love animal beads. But I've only just started wearing them. As much as I love making them, I hadn't really considered wearing them as jewelry. I've always preferred to blend in, rather than stand out, and I guess I figured that wearing a brightly colored glass hippo bead with googly eyes would not exactly help with the blending in part. But lately I've realized that by not wearing my own animal beads, I'm not utilizing one of my best marketing tools - me. So a while back I made a tiny owl bead and have been wearing that on a black rubber cord - nice and simple. Yesterday I picked out a slightly larger and brighter owl bead, with a startled expression on his little face (in the bottom picture the one one the right), and I put that on a cord to wear. Who knows? Maybe there's a penguin in a cowboy hat in my future.
But enough about me. I want to hear from you! Do you wear animal beads? Would you if you won one? Say, the bright yellow owl above with the perfect pink flower murrini belly (by lori and kim), turquoise beak and toes? Leave me a comment about what kind of animal beads you would wear and where you would wear them - on a bracelet, a simple chain, earrings, belly button, etc. If you prefer to keep your animal beads on a shelf or under your computer, that's ok - I'd like to know that, too. Also, be sure there's a way for me to contact you if you win. I'll use the random number generator to pick the winner Sunday night (Aug. 15).

By the way, I'm now offering Custom Hooters in my Etsy shop! That's right - you can custom design your very own hooter. Or go crazy and get a set of custom hooters! You pick the colors and belly design - frit feathers, murrini or polka dot feathers - and I'll make it. It's a win-win!
I like to wear hummingbirds, bumble bees, turtles, and an alligator. Maybe these are not animals, but birds, bees, etc, are some of my favorite. And I am your friend on FB, so easy to find me.
ReplyDeleteYou know I wear critter beads all the time! My Comet Z Dawg earrings, turtle bead bracelet, Noopy dog bracelet, Ducky bracelet, and all my pandora beads on a few bracelets now because I have so many. I'm not really a stand out person either - but I do get noticed with my critter jewelry. I hope they think I'm a fun person who likes a little bit of whimsy in my life : ) I know they have never seen anything like them before and often don't even know what a lampwork bead is - so I explain it to them and pass on the Etsy site and Maybeads as the artist. I can't wait to see who else wears them too!
ReplyDeleteI don't generally wear animal beads, they sit on a shelf and watch me make jewelry. However, my daughter, your biggest fan, loves wearing animal beads. And no, I'm not bitter her favorite lampworker is you and not me. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love love love bright and bold and beautiful beads, but as yet have not had a critter, apart from a bright red frog! I would have to have a cartoon style hooter in funky colours with a beautiful murrini bellybutton, I'd wear her proudly on my bracelet which is adorned with my fave glass beads by my fave glass beadmakers!
ReplyDeleteI'm a facebook fan, Dee Francis, and my computer has finally let me view your blog, am signing in to follow as we speak!!! :D Mine is Cherry Obsidia, same as my facebook page...x
I've never had an animal bead but I would wear it everywhere with everything. I'd probably wear on a long black cord rather than short. If I had a bunch I'd clip them on my purse, that'd be cute.

ReplyDeleteI love all your critters, but I think my fave are your hippos. All that roundness with those big nostrils!
Critters are perfect shelf sitters for my work table. I can look up for a chuckle at any time.
I already follow you on Facebook. I love critters on my shelf. I especially love turtles. They watch me as I work and cheer me up! I love all your animal beads and have more relatives than you have beads so there's always an opportunity to give them away. kevenjujumia@yahoo.com or Facebook Corey Bean

ReplyDeleteI've never worn an animal bead but my phone charm is an insect (butterfly) from your shop and I love it! I love the owls too...they are so cute and colorful. I would wear one if I won one. You can contact me via facebook, email, phone or just walk out your door and down the sidewalk to your left. :) Janet
ReplyDeleteI follow you on Facebook. :) I wear animal beads sometimes, but I'm a clutz, so more often than not I wear sturdy beads and leave the critters to be studio mascots.
ReplyDelete(Love how the rose murrini looks on your critters, I was delighted to find it in the murrini mix, too!)
I would wear one of your owls to remind me of a rhyme my old Mum used to say to me when I talked too much!
ReplyDelete"A wise old owl lived in an oak
The more he saw the less he spoke
The less he spoke the more he heard.
Why can’t we all be like that wise old bird?"
